Nano-Carbon Heaters' Safety Report
In recent years most Infrared sauna manufacturers have switched from using ceramic 'element type' heaters to carbon panel heaters. Carbon panel heaters are made from different forms of carbon (liquid carbon, powdered carbon or carbon fibres) which are sandwiched between fibreglass panels.
Are Carbon/Fibreglass Panels safe for use in Saunas?
Some have suggested that carbon/fibreglass panels may be unsafe due to offgassing of chemicals into the sauna. Indeed, in our experience some low quality panel heaters do emit odours and may not be safe for use in the saunas.
Sun Stream Panel Heaters: Proven Odourless and Non-Toxic
To ensure the safety of our Nano-Carbon Panel heaters we submitted them to VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emission testing by an independent lab, Pacific Environmental Consulting. Here are excerpts from their report
"Volatile Organic Compounds are emitted as gases from certain solids and liquids and include a variety of chemicals. Some VOC's may have short or long term adverse effects... Usually symptoms of exposure to VOCs include headaches nose and throat irritation, fatigue and dizziness....
Test Results: 0.0 ppm
Levels of Volatile Organic Compounds for all types of Sun Stream panels tested reported concentrations below the level of detection at 0.0 ppm.
